The province has given a helping hand in building a new Seniors Centre in Boyle.

On behalf of the Maureen Kubinec, the minister of Culture and Tourism, local MLA and Seniors minister Jeff Johnson presented a $100,000 donation to the Boyle and District Seniors Citizens Association to put towards the new centre.

“I am here to deliver some good news. You folks have done so much for your community and so much for this province,” Johnson said when handing over the cheque last Friday.

“There are opportunities we have to help you to help some of the things you want to do now.”

Treasurer and association spokesperson Peter Golanski wanted to thank everyone for their donations to the centre.

“This donation today, and the donation from the village, puts us over the halfway mark that we believe we need to complete the seniors centre,” said Golanski.

At their meeting on Oct. 1, the Boyle village council passed a motion to donate $200,000 to the new seniors centre.
