Sections of Highway 63 between Radway and Fort McMurray will be closed Wednesday and Thursday nights to allow for the passing of a wide load.
From Feb. 24-28, nightly closures will take place on sections of highway between Lloydminster and Fort McMurray. The closures will all take place between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on un-twinned sections of highway to allow the convoy to pass. The load will take up a full two lanes of highway including shoulders.
Signs have been posted along the route to notify drivers of the closures. Drivers can expect waits up to 30 minutes during these closures and are urged to take alternate routes.
The closure dates for specific highways are as follows:
On Feb. 25, east on Highway 45 from Two Hills, north on Highways 36 & 29, and about 110 kilometers east on Highway 28 to Radway.
On Feb. 26, west on Highway 28 from Radway and north on Highway 63 to Wandering River. About 150 kilometers will be closed.
On Feb. 27, 200 kilometers of Highway 63 between Wandering River and Fort McMurray will be closed.
Finally, on Feb. 28, Highway 63 north from Fort McMurray to the CNRL Horizon Site will be closed.
