ATHABASCA — A sold out crowd packed into the Nancy Appleby Theatre May 15 for opening night of Big River Arts Society’s production of The Sound of Music, the first play to feature on the stage 44 years ago.

47 actors and actresses participated in the 2025 retelling of the anti-fascist tale, which had 15 production staff working behind the scenes on props, costumes, technical support and more.
