BOYLE - The Boyle RCMP charged two men with a variety of firearms-related offences following a tip about two suspicious men on a property.
In a May 13 release, RCMP Cpl. Mathew Howell said the village Mounties responded to a May 8 call about two men trespassing on a property. After arresting the two men and searching their vehicle, Howell said the officers found three firearms, two of which were sawed-off, and a flashlight-taser combo. All four items were seized.
‘‘We would like to thank the public for calling in this suspicious activity,’’ said Sgt. Dennis Properzi, who runs the Boyle detachment. ‘‘We encourage the public to keep calling in with any information regarding suspicious or illegal activity, as was stressed in all of our annual town hall meetings. These calls allow us to effectively work with our communities and ensure their needs and safety is being addressed.’’
As a result of the arrest, Timothy Adam Tyson, 39, from Plamondon was charged with two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Darcy Allen Kandt, 33, from Westlock, was charged with three counts of possession of a prohibited firearm, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with a release order.
The two men were both remanded into custody following an appearance before a Justice of the Peace and will appear in the Boyle Court of Justice May 28.
