ATHABASCA – Three people face charges including possession of stolen property over $5,000, and resisting a peace officer, after they fled on foot from a stolen vehicle in early April.

In an April 29 press release, Athabasca RCMP Const. Kyle Hotchkiss said that on April 3, shortly after 9:30 a.m., police were made aware of a possible stolen vehicle in their area. A vehicle matching the description was in a local farmers field, and RCMP members set up containment and approached the vehicle.

During the arrest police say several individuals exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Police were able to locate and arrest, while two others were located and arrested with the help of the RCMP Police Dog Services.

Twyla Gayle Steinhauer, 35, a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, illegal possession of government documents, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer. George Bert Harrison, 32, also of Edmonton, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, illegal possession of government documents, unauthorized possession of a firearm/restricted weapon, and resisting or obstructing a police officer.

Tyson Timothy Adam, 38, from Lac La Biche, faces charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000, failing to comply with conditions of a release order, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

Following a judicial hearing, Steinhauer and Harrison were released with conditions to abide by, and Adam was remanded into custody. All three are slated to appear in Athabasca Court of Justice May 2.
