Athabasca RCMP are seeking information after a series of break and enters and property thefts from businesses located in the 53 Street industrial park.

According to an RCMP press release, sometime between late July 20 and early morning July 21, thieves broke into locked compounds and stole equipment from vehicles inside the compounds.

“The catalytic converters were cut off underneath the vehicle on a number of vehicles and stolen,” Const. Gregory Parsons said. “For the most part, that’s the main similarity between them.”

He said criminals broke into and stole catalytic converters from five compounds. Miscellaneous items were also taken from the vehicles, including coveralls and a gas generator.

He said investigators had no suspects or witnesses, and they are requesting anyone with information about the incident contact the Athabasca RCMP.

“(The investigation)’s still ongoing,” Parsons said. “We’re seeking help from the public. We’re getting video surveillance from businesses in the area ad trying to come up with more leads that we can go on.”

Anyone with knowledge of the incident is encouraged to call the Athabasca RCMP at 780-675-5122.
