BOYLE – Two local men face multiple charges, including possession of property obtained by crime, after Boyle RCMP executed a Feb. 3 search warrant on a rural Athabasca County property and found a “significant amount of stolen property” valued around $300,000.

According to a Feb. 7 RCMP news release, Boyle RCMP, with the assistance of the Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant Friday, Feb. 3, at a rural Athabasca property and recovered a Freightliner conventional semi-tractor, International semi-tractor, Ford F-350, Ford SRW, GMC Sierra, two Ski-Doo snowmobiles, an Arctic Cat snowmobile and a Polaris Sportsman ATV and trailer. In a follow-up e-mail, Boyle RCMP Const. Andy Smith said the items have an approximate value of $275,000 to $300,000.

As a result of the search warrant, Zane Curtis Bronson, 36, a resident of Athabasca County, faces nine counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, while Geordie Vern Wilson, 35, a resident of Thorhild County, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Arrested at the scene with outstanding warrants was Kyle James Conlon, 39, of no fixed address — previous charges he faces include three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft of a motor vehicle, fraudulent concealment and tampering with a vehicle identification number.

All three were remanded in custody following judicial interim release hearings, with Bronson and Wilson scheduled to be in Boyle Provincial Court Feb. 14, while Conlon was slated to appear in Edmonton Provincial Court Feb. 8.

“This represents a significant seizure of stolen property and we are happy to return these items to their rightful owners,” said Boyle RCMP Detachment Operations NCO Cpl. Gavin Bergey, in a release. “The Boyle RCMP will continue to target prolific offenders and disrupt criminal activity in our detachment area.”
