Search warrant recovers three vehicles

Zane Bronson, Bevin Nash, William Fournier and Jason McMullen facing variety of charges

BOYLE – Four area men are facing a variety of charges following the execution of a search warrant by Boyle RCMP July 8 that resulted in the recovery of three vehicles and multiple firearms.

An RCMP media release received July 13 says the warrant was executed after Boyle RCMP attended to an Athabasca County property as part of an ongoing investigation just before 3 a.m. July 8, returning later that day, assisted by the Alberta RCMP Auto Theft Unit and Lac La Biche RCMP, with the warrant to recover the vehicles and make the arrests.

A 35-year-old Athabasca County man, Zane Bronson, faces three charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; two charges of fail to comply with a release order; and one count each of unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, and possession of a firearm contrary to a probation order.

Bronson was released on cash bail following a judicial interim release hearing and will be in Boyle Provincial Court Aug. 23.

Additionally, Bevin Nash, 26, of Bon Accord, and William Fournier, 42, of Athabasca County each face one charge of obstructing a police officer. Both will be in Boyle Provincial Court Aug. 9.

“As officers were concluding the search warrant, a male known to police was located walking on a nearby road by Boyle RCMP members. Jason McMullen, 39, of Athabasca, was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants and new charges,” stated the RCMP release.

McMullen faces one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; flight from a police officer; operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited; and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He remains in custody following a release hearing and is scheduled to appear in Athabasca Provincial Court July 25.
