Three charged following alleged Buffalo Lake kidnapping

RCMP continue to search for Lloyd Boudreau, while Damion Quintal and Lindsay Boucher were arrested

BOYLE - Three people have been charged following an alleged kidnapping at Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement July 13, but one still remains at large.

RCMP are requesting assistance from the public but warn residents not to approach Lloyd Wesley Boudreau if he is seen and to contact Boyle RCMP at 780-689-3622 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). Boudreau is described as five-foot-seven-inches and 185 pounds with a medium complexion. He has black hair and brown eyes with tattoos on his arms, neck and face.

Boyle RCMP have issued a warrant for his arrest but he is also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for a parole violation.

Boudreau, 27, is charged with break and enter; robbery with a firearm; assault with a weapon; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and forcible confinement after Boyle RCMP received a report July 13 at approximately 9:30 p.m that 29-year-old Levi Cardinal had been kidnapped from a residence at Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was also deployed to assist with the investigation, said a July 14 RCMP media release received at 10:50 a.m. — the first of three regarding the incident that day and the next.

The next release at 12:29 p.m. reported Cardinal had been located, with the third coming July 15 at 6:14 p.m. to report two of the three suspects had been arrested and charged.

Following Cardinal's alleged kidnapping, "RCMP located a vehicle believed to be related to the incident. After a short pursuit and the deployment of a tire deflation device, RCMP with the assistance of an RCMP Police Dog were successful in arresting two occupants a short distance away. On July 14, 2022, Levi Cardinal was located with minor injuries," stated the last release.

Damion Quintal, 37, of Lac La Biche has been charged with two counts of break and enter, along with single charges of robbery with a firearm; forcible confinement; assault with a weapon; discharge a firearm with intent; disguise with intent; and possession of a weapon. He was remanded in custody and will be in Boyle Provincial Court July 26.

Lindsay Boucher, 37, of Lac La Biche, has been charged with break and enter; robbery with a firearm; and forcible confinement. She was also remanded in custody and will be in Vegreville Provincial Court July 18.

The circumstances surrounding Cardinal's release remain under investigation, said RCMP.
