Town water advisory lifted, chlorine levels up to code

The Town of Athabasca has lifted the water advisory that had been in effect from 10 a.m. until approximately 12:25 p.m. Friday.

The Town of Athabasca has lifted the water advisory that had been in effect from 10 a.m. until approximately 12:25 p.m. Friday.

The advisory was put in place due to a lack of residual chlorine, below government standards, in the town water supply, said Susan Laboucan, a member of town administrative staff.

Residents had been advised not to drink any water directly from the tap and to boil water before consuming it.

The Town flushed the system and tested the water to verify its chlorine supply. It was determined that it was back up to code and the ban was lifted.
