The success of the annual Tree of Hope fundraising campaign never fails to amaze the members of the Boyle Healthcare Centre Auxiliary.
Judy Flax, president of the auxiliary, said last Tuesday at the tree lighting ceremony outside the healthcare facility, that more than $8,000 has been raised to date for the purchase of two electric beds, which cost about $12,000 each.
This year, the tree was lit up by members of the Boyle Ukrainian Catholic Church, who won the draw from those that donated more than $250.
“It’s amazing what this small community does,” said Flax.
“It continues to grow and it is never too late to donate.”
Meanwhile, Boyle Healthcare Centre site manager Mary Proskie said the work the auxiliary does is invaluable.
“They hold events throughout the year and with their help, we are able to get equipment in a more timely manner than through our capital budget,” she said.
“They really supplement our work with the wonderful work they do in raising the money so we can purchase much needed equipment.
