UPDATE: Athabasca County making 'excellent' progress on Boyle fire

Evacuees who didn't attend registration centre encouraged to register via QR code for tracking purposes

Athabasca County said the crews working on the Highway 831 fire have made, "excellent progress" throughout the day, and are working on getting the last remaining areas contained and under control.

A spokesperson for the county cited favourable weather conditions as a helpful factor, and said crews were working hard with hopes the weather would stay good. Prevalent winds from the south had pushed the fire north yesterday, but died down this morning.

In the municipality's second daily update, the county asked residents to still stay away from the area to give the crews as much room as possible to do their work.

Evacuees who require assistance are encouraged to attend the reception centre in Lac La Biche, at Parkland Motels II, 10710 101 Avenue Lac La Biche.

Evacuees who do not require assistance are asked to self register through a QR code (see below ) or by contacting the Athabasca County FCSS staff by phone at 780-675-2623.
