Olympic gold medalist Brad Jacobs will soon be reunited with his Olympic ring, which was stolen from his room at the Boyle Motor Inn last weekend while he was in town participating in the Bryan Mudryk Golf Classic charity golf tournament.

Charges are now pending against a 22-year old woman from High Prairie and a 22-year old man from Calling Lake. The female suspect was arrested at approximately 10 p.m. on June 26, and the male was arrested in the early morning on June 27.

Names of the accused have not been released.

After receiving numerous tips from the public and conducting a review of surveillance footage, investigators were able to identify the two suspects. The search was narrowed to a residence in the Boyle area.

The female suspect was arrested and led officers to the stolen property, which also included other personal effects belonging to Jacobs and other items stolen from the hotel on June 20.

“The number of tips we received from the public during the course of the investigation was tremendous. This theft was solved by a community pulling together saying we won't stand for this type of behaviour, ” said Boyle RCMP Sgt. Kevin McGillivray.

Both suspects will have court dates in mid-August.
