Weekly Weather: Athabasca to see sun, rain, thunderstorms this week

More summer sun, rain, and chances of thunderstorms are predicted for the Athabasca region this week.

ATHABASCA — Athabascans are in store for a range of weather this week, with chances of thunderstorms, more hot summer sun, and cooler days with rain.

According to Environment Canada’s seven-day forecast, Monday will kick off the week with a mix of sun and cloud, a high of 29 C, and a Humidex value reaching 31. The heat will bring with it chances of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Tuesday will begin much the same, with sun in the morning and cloud cover moving in for the afternoon. A 30 per cent chance of showers and more chances of thunderstorms are expected for the afternoon.

Sunny skies and a high of 26 C are expected for Wednesday, with a nighttime low dipping down to 11 C. Similar weather is anticipated for Thursday, and a 60 per cent chance of showers is forecast overnight.

Chances of rain are expected throughout Friday, with a 30 per cent chance during the day, rising to 60 per cent at night. The daytime high is expected to dip, hitting a cool 18 C.

Rain will likely continue into the weekend, with moderate chances of showers accompanying a high of 21 C for Saturday. Sunday’s temperatures are predicted to begin heating up, with a daytime peak of 25 C with a mix of sun and cloud.
