Wide load to close sections of Highway 63 Saturday and Sunday

Drivers using stretches of Highway 63 in Athabasca County and beyond can expect rolling closures and delays tomorrow afternoon until 5 p.m. or so while a super-wide load completes a leg of its trip from Edmonton to Fort McMurray.

Drivers using stretches of Highway 63 in Athabasca County and beyond can expect rolling closures and delays tomorrow afternoon until 5 p.m. or so while a super-wide load completes a leg of its trip from Edmonton to Fort McMurray.

The load is 29 feet wide and 210 feet long, taking up an entire two-lane highway including the shoulder.

The load moves from Two Hills to Grassland March 8 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., and its route includes a 102-kilometre stretch of Highway 63 from where it intersects with Highway 28 (just northeast of Redwater) to Grassland.

On Sunday, the load will continue along Highway 63 from Grassland to Fort McMurray from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
