Fire crews battled the flames of a wildfire near Atmore on April 18.

The wildfire broke out along Highway 63 just before 7 p.m. on Monday night, according to a Boyle RCMP press release.

The highway shut down for several hours due to limited visibility, while wildland fire fighters and air support fought to put out the flames.

A detour was set up while the highway was closed. The fire had already jumped a service road by the time crews arrived. The source of the fire hasn't been identified.

Both southbound lanes and one northbound lane at kilometre marker 12 re-opened around 9 p.m. on Monday, while crews kept the fire under control.

No injuries or building damages have been reported at this time.
