The Athabasca United Church celebrated its 100th year last weekend with three days of fun activities. On Saturday, sod was turned for a new centennial garden. All traffic traveling on Highway 55 through Athabasca will be detoured on to 43 Street, while an Alberta Transportation intersection project progresses. The detour was set to commence on May 21, and is scheduled to last for six weeks.

A 26 year old Slave Lake man is dead after a passerby discovered a vehicle inverted and submerged in a creek Saturday morning on Highway 44 approximately 6 km south of Highway 2. Slave Lake RCMP responded to a call at approximately 9 a.m. Saturday.
