After Thanksgiving

Ah, Thanksgiving. The time to express what we are thankful for. The time to spend with family, and laugh with them. To share a belly-stuffing turkey dinner, then sit back and relax.

Ah, Thanksgiving. The time to express what we are thankful for. The time to spend with family, and laugh with them. To share a belly-stuffing turkey dinner, then sit back and relax. Of course everyone is back to work now, and the kids are back at school. The turkey dinner is but a distant memory, leaving only leftovers in the fridge. But what about our thanks?

It's been said time and time again, our thanks should not be limited to the holidays. Although some of us may need Thanksgiving or Christmas as a reminder of all we have, we should remember how lucky we are each morning we wake.

In Barrhead we have many things to be thankful for. In fact, this paper could be filled with thanks and appreciation alone. Pages on the volunteers who give countless hours to make our community a better place, such as those who brought us a successful Taste of Barrhead. Pages about the people who contribute to Coats for Kids, whether they are bringing donations of coats and funds to FCSS or drycleaning the jackets free of charge. Maybe about the team who puts in time at the food bank, ensuring everyone has a warm meal.

Remember to thank those who continue to uphold the foundation of our community, not just on holidays.
