BARRHEAD – Chris Jensen, owner/advisor of Cooperators, has retired, and his team held a special event with him to celebrate on July 11.
“We've always had great teams, but it is nice to go out knowing this was the best team I ever had,” said Jensen.
Jensen’s retirement plans included an interesting list of activities. He is interested in building some senior homes, more golfing and fishing are on his list, and he is looking forward to riding his motorcycle more.
Jensen also looks forward to painting and learning the harmonica. He also has a few million-dollar book ideas and plans to write a book.
Finally, he plans to travel to Prague, Venice, and Machu Picchu.
Jensen has been with Cooperators first in sales and moved his way up to owner/advisor.
Cooperators originated in Hanley, Saskatchewan, when two farmers got together and started a company to sell insurance, according to Jensen.
Jensen spent summers in Hanley through his childhood with his grandparents where he learned to golf, among other adventures.
He was working at Scotiabank before Jensen moved to Cooperators.
"It might sound cliché but I really enjoyed working with the clients," said Jensen.
Developing friendships with clients and seeing first and second generations come through the location has meant a great deal to Jensen.
When tragedy strikes and they have insurance in place, Jensen could make a difference and help these people out.
Many of the stories Jensen has are of grim events, but he is thankful when people have life insurance in place, making all the difference to helping the family get back on their feet.
Jensen owns the Cooperator building and will remain as the landlord.
"I will still be around, cleaning eavestroughs."
