BARRHEAD – One-year-old Kennedy McQueen often plays on her dad, Steve’s cell phone, but was quite the little shopper recently.
She made a bid on John Deere 4140 at Parsons Consignment Sale auction online and bought her dad a tractor.
That makes Kennedy Parsons Auctions' youngest bidder ever.
“I have to tell you something,” said Steve McQueen to his wife Tara, the night he was notified on his cell phone that he had won the bid on the tractor.
The John Deere tractor was listed as “Runs but does not drive.”
McQueen shared the story with his work buddies and there was some kidding back and forth about trades for an ATV or payout of less than the bid amount.
The John Deere tractor was not a cheap item either – Kennedy's bid was $2,200.
The McQueens, by no surprise, were shocked by the whole event.
Jeff Parsons was told about the situation.
While in regular situations, auction items are bought as is and there are no returns, Parsons was amicable to the situation.
The McQueens picked up the John Deere tractor and checked the machine out.
With some minor adjustments, Steve was able to get the tractor running and driving.
With a bit of luck, the purchase turned out to be a good buy and the tractor will be used for raking on their fields.
The moral of the story, according to the McQueens: close any applications where children could inadvertently make a purchase on your account before handing a cell phone over to a toddler.
