Mayerthorpe RCMP are looking for the suspect involved in a February 2020 shooting. The shooter is believed to have been driving a 2013 or newer, dark-coloured Dodge Ram 1500.

BARRHEAD-Mayerthorpe RCMP are asking for the public's help in finding the person responsible for the shooting of a Sandgudo man last year.

On Feb. 4, 2020, at about 1:30 a.m., a Sangudo man suffered life-altering injuries after being shot by an unknown assailant in Mayerthorpe's industrial area at Highway 43 and 50th Street.

In the original media release, RCMP said a 50-year-old male was sitting in his semi-tractor when an unknown person shot at the truck and fled the scene in what is believed to be a dark coloured Dodge Ram pick-up truck.

However, through video footage, police have determined the suspect vehicle to be a 2013 or newer Dodge, dark-coloured Dodge Ram 1500.

The Mayerthorpe RCMP, in a Nov. 4 media release, said despite receiving several tips from the public, they haven't been able to identify the suspect but continue to investigate.

"Investigators believe there are people that know who is responsible for this incident and are requesting anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation," stated the RCMP.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Mayerthorpe RCMP at 780-786-2291 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
