BARRHEAD – Three Barrhead Composite High School students were recognized on June 10 and presented with Citizenship Awards for their achievements.

“Congratulations to the latest recipients of the Pembina Hills Citizenship Awards,” said the Pembina Hills School Division in their media release.

The three students who were acknowledged with this designation are Jack Kryger, Jemiah Sarmiento, and Ash Smith.

“We are proud to recognize Jack with a Grade 12 Citizenship Award for his outstanding character, leadership, and commitment to making a positive difference in his school and community,” said Pembina Hills School Division on their website.

Jack leads with integrity, kindness, and quiet confidence.

He stands firmly for what is right, even when it requires courage and treats everyone with respect, no matter the circumstances.

With a thoughtful presence, Jack notices when others need support and is always willing to lend a listening ear.

His actions create a welcoming sense of care and connection wherever he goes.

As a committed volunteer, Jack has generously contributed his time to various community events.

Once he offers his help, he follows through with reliability and a strong work ethic, always ready to give his best effort.

Jack approaches every challenge with positivity and resilience, believing that determination and hard work can overcome obstacles.

Now preparing to serve as a volunteer firefighter, Jack continues to demonstrate his deep sense of responsibility and his desire to make a difference.

“It is with great pride that we recognize Jemiah as one of this year's citizen award recipients for demonstrating exceptional leadership and community spirit,” said the School Division.

Jemiah has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting others and promoting inclusion. Whether volunteering at community events, mentoring peers, or helping to lead important school initiatives such as the Stars wake-a-thon, and anti-bullying campaigns.

She has consistently worked to foster a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone feels valued.

A true optimist, Jemiah meets challenges with a positive outlook and a can-do spirit.

Even when faced with obstacles, she shows resilience and views setbacks as opportunities for learning and growth inspiring those around her to do the same.

One of Jemiah’s greatest strengths is her ability to listen with care and empathy.

Whether providing a listening ear to a friend or ensuring student perceptions are represented in leadership discussions, she builds strong meaningful connections that extend throughout the school community.

Jemiah’s example reminds us that true citizenship involves not only action but also understanding and compassion.

“Ash is described as a truly exceptional student. Her nomination speaks volumes about her character, her commitment to the school community, and her genuine care for others,” said Pembina Hills School Division.

Ash’s kindness naturally creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere where all students feel valued and included, helping to foster a strong sense of belonging within her school community.

Her deep dedication to extracurricular activities reflects not only her passion and collaborative spirit but also her emerging leadership and dependable character.

Peers look to Ash as a role model, someone they trust for guidance, support, and encouragement.

She is motivated by a sincere commitment to social justice and uses both her voice and actions to promote fairness, equality, and inclusion throughout the school.

Ash's active involvement in school clubs demonstrates her proactive approach to building a better more inclusive environment for everyone.

Her compassionate heart and genuine desire to help others makes her someone who is always willing to offer support where it's needed most.

She frequently supports classmates, lending a hand at school events, and thoughtfully cares for her younger siblings.

Ash's kindness and empathy shine through in all she does. Her caring nature extends beyond the classroom as she serves as a fierce and thoughtful advocate for her family and friends.

She has remarkable compassion, steadfast dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility that makes her a truly deserving recipient.
