Tough way to end the regular season

Barrhead Steelers lose to Mayerthorpe 4-3

The Barrhead Steelers lost their final game of the regular Northern Alberta Interlock (NAI) League season at home 4-3 at the Agrena on Feb. 19.

The loss put the Steelers' regular season record at 9 wins-8 losses-3 ties, for a total of 21 points, the same point total as Tier-2-3 Black Division rivals Mayerthorpe and Hinton. However, Mayerthorpe had one more win than Hinton and Barrhead. Hinton edged out Barrhead for second place because they had one fewer loss than Barrhead. The Whitecourt Wolverines finished in fourth.

Barrhead will face Hinton in the first round of the playoffs. The series will be a two-game home-and-home total point series, the dates of which have not been released as of yet, but they must be concluded by Feb. 26.
