Several members of the Meadowview 4-H Club had an enjoyable learning opportunity at the end of Aug. when they traveled down to Olds for the annual Calgary Stampede 4-H Rodeo.

In 1952, eight-year-old Elaine Toma placed a post on the “Pen-pals Wanted” page in the Family Herald. Halfway across the country, Alice Wessenger in Burlington, Ontario was one of the first to answer.

About 40 years ago Colleen Stein's parents built Barrhead Trailer Court, providing a start for young people hoping to get on the property ladder. It is a legacy she and sister, Diana, inherited once their father, Adolf, died in 1997.

In Barrhead Trailer Court, some tenants refer to their community as a family. They pride themselves on looking out for each other – one day it could be babysitting a neighbour’s child, the next minding a pet or running an errand.
