NEW YORK (AP) — Clarke Schmidt pitched seven hitless innings and the New York Yankees held the Baltimore Orioles to one hit in a 9-0 rout on Saturday. JT Brubaker gave up a single to Gary Sánchez to open the eighth for the Orioles' only hit.

MIAMI (AP) — The Atlanta Braves placed reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale on the 15-day injured list Saturday because of a fractured left rib cage.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Texas Rangers placed first baseman Jake Burger on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a strained left oblique. Burger was injured on a swing during Friday night’s 6-2 win over the Pirates.
