EDMONTON: Saskatchewan RCMP want the public’s help to find a wanted woman who may be in the Edmonton region.
North Battleford RCMP put out a notice Jan. 4 asking for the public’s assistance to find Charmaine Brett Bear (also known as Charmaine Spyglass) of Battleford, Sask. There is an Alberta-wide warrant out for her arrest as she has been spotted in Edmonton.
The warrant stemmed from a December 2020 RCMP investigation into a report of alleged child abuse, police said. Charmaine has been charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life; criminal negligence causing bodily harm; assault; aggravated assault; and uttering threats. Police followed up on various tips on her location last year but did not find her.
Charmaine, 34, is described as 5’6” with a slender build, brown eyes, and long black hair that is often worn tucked under a ball cap. RCMP said Charmaine is known to wear sunglasses indoors and baggy clothing.
Police suspect Charmaine is actively evading police and that she could be travelling between and staying in Edmonton, Lloydminster, North Battleford, Mosquito First Nation, and Saskatoon.
RCMP said Charmaine may be travelling with a man named Lyle Aaron Bear, who was charged and arrested in January 2021 in relation to the December 2020 investigation. (There is no warrant out for his arrest.)
RCMP believe Charmaine and Lyle may have several children with them. Lyle is set to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 18 on charges relating to assault; aggravated assault; assault with a weapon; uttering threats; failure to provide the necessaries of life; and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
Anyone with information on Charmaine’s whereabouts is asked to call their local RCMP office or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
