Following a two-year hiatus, the Mayor’s Breakfast returns in June.

Jointed hosted by the Westlock and District Chamber of Commerce and Town of Westlock, the breakfast runs from 7 to 9 a.m. June 12 at Memorial Hall. Tickets are $15 for chamber members and $25 for non-members and are available from the town office, Properzi Tims, ATB, Westlock Ford and Royal LePage Town & Country Realty.

Mayor Ralph Leriger said partnering with the chamber on the breakfast is tailor made — the last Mayor’s Breakfast was held in 2017. The two-hour breakfast includes presentations from Leriger, and maybe even a surprise or two, as well as presentations from the chamber.

“This event is an absolute natural fit for a chamber. I think our previous two breakfasts that we did went over very well, I got lots of positive feedback from them. We really saw this as a great opportunity for our new chamber to have a very successful event, build some momentum and gather new members and talk to people about the benefits of being involved in the chamber,” said Leriger.

“I’m formulating my presentation right now, but I think part of it will be me giving a state of the union, financial update as to where the town is.”

Chamber vice-president Paul Olsen said they’re excited about being a part of the breakfast and he’s currently working on his speech.

“I think I want to talk about teamwork between everyone involved, the business community, the municipalities … everyone. Together we can be very strong on a wide range of fronts,” said Olsen.

“We need to put all of heads together and our energies together and make a difference for Westlock.”

Only a handful of months into its reformation, the chamber has been busy by jointly co-hosting the provincial election forum with the Westlock News in April, in addition to the Mayor’s Breakfast. The next regular meeting for the chamber goes May 16 in the Remax Room at the Rotary Spirit Centre at 8 a.m.

“We have a really great executive and have a great back and forth and are able to get things done. In such a short time I’m really proud of the work we’ve been able to do,” Olsen concluded.
