The Westlock & District Community Hall will sport an Irish-green hue on March 31 for the 10th annual Celtic Pub Night fundraiser.

Organizers of the Westlock Victim Services Unit hope to raise enough money to support the victims of crime and tragedy within their program.

“It’s just emergency supplies for them to get by for a few days until they can get into some of the other services. Whether it is FCSS, another social service or a safe house,” said board chair Marilyn Hess last week.

Guests can expect the usual ‘pub grub’ menu this year that have included nachos and cheese, wings, ribs and of course, a large supply of beer.

“There’s food all night included in your ticket price. We try to do different things each year and try whatever works.”

With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, organizers hope that ticket holders will still be in the Irish spirit for the fundraiser.

The musical band for the evening, St. James’ Gate is called upon once again to perform throughout the evening.

The same band also performed at last year’s event, and is back by popular demand with their musical genre being ideal for the evening.

“We actually heard them a couple of years ago in Banff when we were on training and talked to them and they came out last year. We rebooked them for this year. The band is excellent, ” Hess said.

Other activities guests can look forward to include a silent and live auction, 50/50 draw and several door prizes up for grabs.

“We have some really good auction items this year and door prizes throughout the night. It’s a fun evening. I hope people come out and have fun,” said Hess.

With only 350 spots available, tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Tickets are $24 and only available to purchase through Hess at 780-349-3096 or via the Westlock RCMP Detachment at 780-349-4492.
