The Westlock Legion will be hopping with the sounds of country music this Sunday.

Country music promoter Ernie Allen is bringing his Traditional and Classic Country Music in Concert tour to the Legion on March 2, a show that promises to keep the joint rocking for nearly three hours straight.

Three acts are slated to take to the stage starting at 2 p.m. — openers Runaway Train, consisting of members Kris Brooks and Ray Von, and singer-songwriter Louise Boudreau will each perform for about 25 minutes, before ceding the stage to headliner Matt Robertson. Robertson will perform his own 25-minute set, followed by a 15-minute intermission.

Then, they’ll line themselves up and do it all over again.

“Everything’s one right after the other,” Allen said. “They’re all continuous. There’s no delay and no waiting around.”

Allen has brought the tour all over Alberta, using the connections he made during his career on the rodeo circuit.

He runs a tight, professional show. Every artist is a professional musician, and he listens to all of them before deciding whether to add them to the tour.

Robertson has performed the songs he’s written himself across Western Canada and down to Arizona, serenading audiences with his take on cowboy poetry.

Boudreau also writes her own music, and has had some of her work played on the radio in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Allen said.

For their part, Runaway Train have taken their turn on stages all across Alberta.

Adding in a wide variety of instruments to provide the background music, Allen said the afternoon is perfect for someone looking to unwind before returning to work the next day.

“It’s good, relaxing entertainment for a Sunday afternoon,” he said.

Tickets for the show are available at various locations around the area, including the Westlock Legion, Rexall at the top of Main Street, the Barrhead Rexall store and LA Looks in Legal.

Tickets are $15 in advance, and $18 at the door. The show starts at 2 p.m., and there will be door prizes and a concession available inside.
