Kids young and old will get a chance to have some fun at the Athabasca Lions Club’s Halloween Party at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex on Wednesday.
The all-ages event is geared towards families with kids as young as three years old who want to grab some candy while having a good time playing games, noted Lions president David Maguire.
“The goal is to create a place where everyone can have fun and a chance to get candy in a safe environment,” Maguire said. “The local merchants and businesses around town have donated either money to get items for it or treats for the kids. We have an enormous amount of candy to give out, so everyone is invited.”
Last year, close to 400 people attended the Halloween Party in the Rotary Fieldhouse of the Multiplex. This year, Maguire expects just as many to come and check out all the different games and activities, like a 5-hole hockey net, basketball and bowling.
Maguire noted that at each booth or station there will be candy handed out to the kids who step up and play, and even those who might be too shy. He said Halloween is as much about having candy as it is about making new friends and having some fun, so he encourages all the kids to participate as much as possible.
“It’s all about having fun and every year a lot of people come out, and we hope to see everyone there this year too,” Maguire said.
“There will also be refreshments and popcorn and we like to see the older kids help out too. It’s fun for everyone.”
The party runs from 3-6 p.m.
