If you are in need of a good hotrod and muscle-car fix, you are in luck as Westlock’s annual car show is just around the corner.
The Wheels of Class Car Club will host its annual show and shine on July 12 at Lindahl Park, which is right beside the Westlock Pioneer Museum. The club, which has existed for 28 years, puts on the show yearly as a chance for car and truck lovers to show off their prized possessions.
“We’re involved in anything from the late 20s to 40s cars, 50s cars — whether it be a modification or a restoration,” explains Tom McMillan, president of the club, “We can find one of every decade, easy.”
There will be dozens of prizes for participants arranged by decade and by vehicle type. There is also an in-progress award, for vehicles still be restored.
There is no bar on what kind of vehicle can be entered. McMillan explains that there has been hotrods, semi trucks, motorcycles and modern vehicles entered in the past.
“If somebody has a car that is of interest to them and they want to show it off, we welcome it,” he said. “Show up Sunday morning by noon and we can get you in.”
Registration for the show, which costs $10, begins at 9 a.m. and finishes at noon. A portion of the proceeds goes towards a scholarship set up for the R.F. Staples High School automotives program, with the rest going to the museum.
Entrance for the general public is free, though the club is asking for donations to the museum, which will be open all day and is free to visit.
“I’m putting out a challenge to all the people around the Westlock area with a car sitting in their garage,” says McMillan, “We know who some of you are, and we’d love to have you out.”
