Spirit Award to be given

The deadline to nominate a worthy individual or group or for the 6th Annual Village of Boyle Community Spirit Award is fast approaching and village administration is calling for nominations by Dec. 5.

The deadline to nominate a worthy individual or group or for the 6th Annual Village of Boyle Community Spirit Award is fast approaching and village administration is calling for nominations by Dec. 5.

In 2006, the village council established the award in an attempt to recognize the many community members and organizations that personify the idea of community sprit, according to Boyle administrative assistant Corrine Cordingley.

“The rationale behind the award at the time was to take a moment to recognize the many selfless acts in support of our community that help make the Boyle area a positive and friendly place to live,” Cordingley said.

Each year the village administration and council have the opportunity to review at least four nominations to determine who will be the lucky award recipient.

Mayor Don Radmanovich said he is looking forward to the review process once again.

“It’s something that we have done forever and it’s a way for us to let people know that we appreciate all that they do,” he said. “There are so many people in the community who do a lot of volunteer work and support the community. There are even some people who volunteer with half a dozen organizations and clubs. It’s just something nice that we do to show our thanks.”

The deadline for this year’s nominations is Dec. 5 by 12 p.m. and they can be submitted in written form to Mayor Don Radmanovich at Box 9, Boyle Alberta, T0A 0M0 or by email to [email protected].
