TORONTO — Henoc Muamba didn't have much use for his degree in information systems over the course of his 12-year CFL career. Now that he's retired from playing, he's finally getting to put his education to use.

TORONTO — B.C. Lions quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. is the top-rated offensive player on the CFL's honour roll for a second straight week. He earned a player grade of 93.6 to lead the Week 5 list announced Tuesday. Adams was 26-of-36 passing (72.

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1-4) have signed free agent receiver Lucky Whitehead to the practice roster, the team announced Monday. It will be Whitehead's second stint with Winnipeg. The 32-year-old from Manassas, Va.

HAMILTON — Vernon Adams Jr. and the B.C. Lions are on a nice roll. Adams threw four first-half touchdown passes to lead B.C. past the struggling Hamilton Tiger-Cats 44-28 on Sunday night.

EDMONTON — Defensive lineman Shawn Oakman headlined a group of five players the Edmonton Elks signed on Sunday.

MONTREAL — They left it pretty late, but the Montreal Alouettes scored 15 unanswered points in the final quarter to beat the Calgary Stampeders 30-26 and keep their unbeaten streak alive at Percival Molson Stadium on Saturday night.

HAMILTON — Shemar Bridges is off to an impressive start to his CFL career. The six-foot-four, 210-pound rookie receiver has quickly become a big part of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' offence, leading it in catches (28), yards (309) and touchdowns (three).

WINNIPEG — Brady Oliveira was thrilled the Blue Bombers picked up their first win of the season, but the way they did it brought extra satisfaction.

HAMILTON — Special teams have been a concern early this season for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats but kicker Marc Liegghio hasn't been one. On Wednesday, Hamilton (0-4) hired Dennis McKnight as its new special-teams coach.
