Angels helping Angels in Motion

Local non-profit gets heaps of help from community

BOYLE — Even the hardest heart grows a little bigger each year at Christmas, but generosity has never been a problem in Alberta, specifically in Boyle.

Once again businesses like Alberta Pacific Forest Industries (Al-Pac) and others have stepped up to help the Angel in Motion (AIM) non-profit gather enough money, toys, and food to help the Boyle food bank ensure everyone has a Merry Christmas.

“ATB (Alberta Treasury Branch in Boyle) did a community grant for us and donated $1,000,” said AIM member Shelby Kiteley.

Al-Pac also donated enough money the group was able to run a $1,500 tab at both Buy Low and the North Corridor Co-op grocery stores to help fill the food bank hampers even more.

“Without the Al-Pac grant we wouldn't have been able to open the size of tab the food bank needed,” she said. “We had an incredible year of fundraising but the demand for food was high and Al-Pac really pulled through.”

Kiteley also thanked the local businesses and community for their generosity.

“Co-op has done many fundraisers for us, and the community's toy donations as a whole made the toy shop possible,” she said. "It brought toys to roughly 60 kids in Boyle who may have otherwise gone without.”

Terry Mudryk at the Olé Fashioned Station also did a fundraiser and donated $250 to the cause.

“Terry did a 50/50,” Kiteley said. “We received that today (Dec. 22) so that will go into our fund that we use to help local families in need throughout the year.”
