WESTLOCK COUNTY — An evacuation order has been issued for residents in the Hubert Lake Wildland Provincial Park area due to a wildfire burning on both sides of the Pembina River.

The alert was issued by Westlock County at 7:03 p.m. on May 29 through Alberta Emergency Alert. It applies to everyone in the affected area within Westlock County.

Residents are instructed to evacuate immediately and travel via Highway 44 to the Spirit Centre in Westlock, located at 9603 100 Street. Those evacuating are advised to bring important documents, medications, medical devices, and pets.

Anyone needing assistance with evacuation is asked to call 780-349-3346.

People in nearby areas, including the hamlet of Fawcett, are being advised to prepare for a possible evacuation.
