BREAKING: Shelter in place over in Smoky Lake

"Never any threat to the public" say RCMP in a release

SMOKY LAKE - As of 10:58 a.m., March 17, Smoky Lake RCMP are advising Smoky Lake residents that they no longer need to shelter in place at the "incident has been determined to not be criminal in nature" and "there was never any threat to the public."

Just after 9 a.m. on Friday, Smoky Lake RCMP was investigating a report of a man with a weapon near H. A. Kostash School and police were asking residents in this area to stay in their homes and go to the basement if possible.  

Motorists are also asked to stay clear of this area as well as the school was put on lockdown. RCMP advise that no further information will be released.
