RCMP are currently searching for a 31-year-old canoer who went missing on Fawcett Lake near Slave Lake.

SLAVE LAKE — RCMP are searching for a canoer who’s been missing on Fawcett Lake since Monday.

Police say the last time the 31-year-old man was seen was the morning of Oct. 5. They believe he was planning to use the canoe before hunting in the area. Neighbours started looking for the man the day when they didn’t hear from him.

The man does have extensive outdoors experience, but police didn’t name the individual or say where he was from.

Police got involved in the search too at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. They’re using boats, RCMP and Alberta Forestry aircraft, and assistance from Lesser Slave Regional Fire Service and Alberta Environment and Parks.

The search is still ongoing.
