Extreme cold forces town to put snow removal on ice

Westlock snow removal will continue Monday, Feb. 7 when temperatures are expected to rise

The Town of Westlock has put a hold on snow removal following extreme colds. While much of the area has been fortunate over the past weeks with temperatures lingering around 0 C, Jack Frost has made his return and has plunged Westlock into yet another deep freeze. Spencer Kemp-Boulet

WESTLOCK – The Town of Westlock has put snow removal on ice as Jack Frost’s icy grasp grips the area with another cold snap. 

With the mercury dipping below –30 C early this morning, the town will wait until Monday, Feb. 7 to return to their regular snow removal routes. The extreme cold causes damage to vehicles through microfractures and can cause hydraulic pipes to burst.
