WESTLOCK -- Traffic was briefly interrupted on Highway 18 at the western Town of Westlock entrance earlier this afternoon as smoke from a grass fire reduced visibility to zero.

Town and Westlock County firefighters put up with four fires today. A structure fire destroyed a trailer in the county and a town resident was left with burnt fingers after his basement caught on fire at around 4 a.m.

Just before noon, as county crews were clearing the trailer fire scene, they were called to a grass fire southeast of the Westlock Regional Landfill, which they resolved quickly.

Close to 3 p.m., Pickardville and Busby firefighters were out of the hall again, responding to the grass fire between 93 Ave. in the town and Township Road 270.
