Man dies in ATV accident on Highway 855

Motorists tried to help the man, but he succumbed to his injuries

BUFFALO LAKE METIS SETTLEMENT - A 45-year-old man from Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement is dead following a Sept. 12 ATV accident on Highway 855.

Boyle RCMP were called to the scene after a report of a collision on Highway 855, east of Boyle, involving an overturned ATV, just before 1:30 p.m., stated an RCMP media release received Sept. 13

Boyle RCMP, Buffalo Lake Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services and even motorists with first aid knowledge tried to assist the man, but he was declared deceased on the scene.

"Preliminary investigation reveals the lone male driver of the ATV, reportedly heading north on Highway 855, appeared to have lost control and was subsequently ejected when the ATV overturned. Medical treatment was provided on scene, however, the 45-year-old driver, of Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement, succumbed to the serious injuries and was declared deceased on scene," the release read.

Boyle RCMP advise the investigation is ongoing and next of kin has been notified, but no further updates are expected.
