ATHABASCA - A search warrant executed by Athabasca RCMP members in Calling Lake Dec. 15 has resulted in the seizure of 44 grams of methamphetamine.

The search, which was undertaken at a residence in the hamlet by Athabasca RCMP and the Athabasca RCMP Traffic Services Unit, also found 201 prescription pills of various sorts, along with drug paraphernalia and $700 in gift cards and Canadian currency.

"People are fed up with how the illegal drug trade has been impacting our communities with such devastating consequences,” said Athabasca RCMP Staff Sgt. Mark Hall in a media release received Dec. 16. “Investigations where police can take dangerous drugs out of the hands of criminals saves lives.”

Leslie Troy Bigstone, 41, of Calling Lake was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two others were also arrested on outstanding warrants.
