Smoky Lake RCMP advise residents to shelter in place

Residents of Smoky Lake are being asked to stay in their homes after RCMP received a report of a man with a weapon near H. A. Kostash School.  Both motorists and parents are asked to avoid the area.

SMOKY LAKE – Just after 9 a.m. on Friday, Smoky Lake RCMP was investigating a report of a man with a weapon near H. A. Kostash School in Smoky Lake. Police are asking residents in this area to stay in their homes and go to the basement if possible.  

Motorists are also asked to stay clear of this area as well. The school is currently on lockdown, confirms RCMP. 

“Parents must not attend at this time,” directs police. “An update will be sent when available.”
