Westlock area COVID-19 update: 25 active, 154 recorded

WESTLOCK — The Westlock area has recorded one more case of COVID-19 since Sunday.

There are 25 active cases of 154 recorded since the start of the pandemic. One person has died, a 90-year-old man at the Westlock Continuing Care Centre, and 128 others have recovered.

The area includes the Town of Westlock, Westlock County and the Village of Clyde.

The outbreak at the Continuing Care Centre is still ongoing.

Vaccinations in the long-term care and designated support facilities in the North zone, announced premier Jason Kenney, are projected to be completed today. The zone includes Smithfield Lodge in Westlock, where CEO Raymond Cormie confirmed residents have been vaccinated Jan. 3, and the Westlock Continuing Care Centre, where News Staff confirmed independently that some residents there had also been vaccinated.

In Alberta, 639 cases were reported today out of 9,800 tests for a 6.1 per cent positivity rate. There are 13,917 active cases in the province. Twenty-three more people have died, which brings the death toll in Alberta to 1,307.

Hospitalizations sit at 811, with 130 of them in ICU.
