WESTLOCK — The McDonald’s in Westlock shut down Oct. 19 after an employee announced they tested positive for COVID-19.

In a press release, the fast food chain confirmed the employee’s last shift was Oct. 11 from 5-11 a.m. and asked that those who visited the restaurant check in with Alberta Health Services. All other employees who had close contact were asked to self-quarantine.

“We are working to ensure we reopen safely, as we know our guests depend on their local McDonald’s and we are committed to doing our part to help our communities,” McDonald’s Canada wrote.

They’re closed for a deep clean and they say the franchise will be inspected by a third party. It's not clear yet how long it'll take before they reopen.

Earlier today, the provincial geospatial COVID-19 tracker showed four more active cases for the Westlock area. In total, five people have COVID-19 and seven others have recovered.
