The Barrhead Bantam Orioles kicked off their 2019 season this weekend by going 1-2 in three home games on Saturday and Sunday.
The Barrhead team managed to win their first game on Saturday versus South Jasper Place from Edmonton by a score of 16-8.
However, they suffered losses against Fort Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park on Sunday.
Assistant coach Mark Visser said these were all tiering games to determine how the team will be placed in the upcoming season and who they will be playing this year. As such, they may or may not see all three teams again, though he expected that South Jasper Place and Sherwood Park might be in their league.
As for how they played, Visser noted it was their first weekend. “We have lots to work on and lots to learn,” he added.
Visser noted they will be out of town this upcoming weekend playing exhibition games on the road.
