Barrhead’s Bantam 2 team came out on top in the battle of Wolverines to take the 1660 League Tier 5 championship.

Barrhead defeated Whitecourt in two games of a best of three series.

The first game in Whitecourt was a nailbiter with Barrhead narrowly taking the game 6-5 in overtime.

In the first period, Barrhead took an early three-goal lead on markers by Kyle Kleinfeldt (2-both assisted by Parker Arnell) and Tray Preuss (assisted by Carter Greilach and Bradley Alexis).

In the second period, Whitecourt responded scoring three straight goals, tying the game, just short of the seven-minute mark. Barrhead restored their lead with just 24 seconds left in the frame thanks to a goal by Greilach, with Arnell and Alexis drawing assists.

Whitecourt tied the game less than five minutes into the third period. Barrhead responded less than two minutes later on an unassisted marker by Preuss.

It looked like that was how the game was going to end, however, Whitecourt tied the game with just two seconds left on the clock.

Alexis cemented the victory for Barrhead three minutes into overtime on a goal that was assisted by Preuss.

In the second game, at home, Barrhead had little trouble and defeated their opponents 7-1.

Barrhead reached the final by defeating Leduc and Edson.
