The Blue Heron Golf Tournament fundraiser is coming back following a five-year hiatus.

Before the hiatus, the golf tournament was a staple of summer for 15 years in Barrhead.

“We brought it back because people were asking for it,” said Blue Heron executive director James Challman.

The tournament will follow the best ball format of play, and is scheduled for June 3 at the Barrhead Golf Club. The first foursome will tee off at 10 a.m followed by dinner at 6 p.m.

The cost to participate is $150, which gets you 18 holes of golf, a cart, dinner and snacks on the course. There will also be giveaways.

“We wanted to put the fun back in fundraiser by bringing this tournament back,” said Challman.

Visit the Blue Heron office to register for the tournament or e-mail Michelle Rau and [email protected].

Blue Heron typically runs about eight fundraisers a year. The funds donated to Blue Heron are used for things like covering the fees of licenced counsellors, accessibility equipment, bursaries and to help raise capital.

The tournament has helped to raise more than $10,000 in previous years.
