The ice may be gone, but the work continues for Boyle Minor Hockey.

The organization held its annual general meeting last week. A new executive was elected to lead the organization, and discussions began on what the future of minor hockey in Boyle should look like.

“We discussed our leagues and the possible positioning of our bantams and midgets, and where they may go,” said the now-former president of the organization, Peter Lazowski. Larry Radmanovich will step into the role.

“Numbers wise, we were low on some of our teams, so we may be looking at joint teams with other communities,” he continued. “We will be hosting meetings during the summer and we’ll see where we go from there.

“Everyone felt we had a good year in Boyle.”

The organization’s next meeting will be held on Aug. 24. At that time, decisions will be made on where exactly Boyle’s teams will be playing their hockey next season.

Numerous options abound, including the Sturgeon Pembina Hockey League and the Elk Island Hockey League (of which Lazowski remains the president), as well as leagues in Edmonton and Fort McMurray.

As always, travel time will be a key consideration for the association.

Boyle Hockey’s new executive includes names like Colin Derko (vice-president), Carolyn Kilar (secretary), Margaret Gallinger (treasurer) and Rose Bechtel (registrar) to name a few.
