Figure skaters put on good show in Grande Prairie

Four Barrhead figure skaters acquitted themselves very well at the Peace Section Open competition March 23-25 in Grande Prairie.

Rachel Solem, Rebecca Solem, Katie Magill and Amanda Horner made the trip, where they competed against skaters from other communities in many different disciplines.

Horner was Barrhead’s lone medallist in Grande Prairie. She claimed a gold in the Introductory Interpretive division, and a bronze in the Junior Bronze free skate.

Magill had a double fourth-place finish in the Pre-preliminary elements and Pre-preliminary free skate events.

Rebecca Solem took fourth in the Introductory ladies elements, while Rachel Solem claimed fifth in the same event.

Up next for the Barrhead Figure Skating Club is the SpringSational competition in St. Albert April 13-15, where 12 skaters will compete to show what they can do on the ice.
