Seven days of practice will hopefully pay off for the Athabasca Pacers football team.

The club held their training camp last week, working for hours both on and off the field to perfect their game in time for the new season.

“It went well,” said head coach Pete Burden of the camp. “We had pretty good attendance. Some nights were better than others, but a lot of the kids are still working.”

The team resumed practicing on Monday as they prepare for the season opener against Westlock on Sept. 9.

“They’re a lot bigger than us. We’re going to work on the fundamentals an awful lot.”
